Columns (or Pilasters) are usually used as a support a facade or portico. Limestone columns are made on a stone lathe and are of solid stone. A Capital is a column cap and can be plain or intricate ornamental shapes.

Balluster (also Baustrads). A Baluster is miniature column or form of upright which is used in a series to support a handrail. A Balustrade is a railing consisting of a hand rail and a Baluster. Sometimes on a base and sometimes interrupted by piers.
